At St Michael’s we all recognise our moral and statutory responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of all members of our school. We endeavour to provide a safe and welcoming environment where children are respected and valued. We are alert to the signs of abuse and neglect and follow our procedures to ensure that children receive effective support, protection and justice. The Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) is the Head Teacher Mr Nick Kiddle. The Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead is Mrs Natalie Townley. The Governor with responsibility for Safeguarding is Sally Coade.
For a copy of the School’s Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy please click on the policies link. The procedures contained in this policy apply to all staff and governors and are consistent with those of the Dorset Safeguarding Children Board (DSCB). To support our work in supporting children keeping safe, we also have an E-Safety Policy which can also be found on the policies link.
In July 2015, the Government published advice for Governing bodies, school leaders and school staff. The advice explained what the Preventy Duty means for school and how schools should demonstrate compliance with the duty.
The Prevent Duty is part of the school's safeguarding procedures and practices.
This leaflet shown below has been created by Dorset on preventing terrorism and radicalisation within our communities.
As a school we are part of Operation Encompass. Please read the information below.
